In Luke 11, when Jesus' Disciples asked Him to teach them about prayer, he told a story about a man who wore his neighbor down with unstoppable persistence that bordered on annoyance. Jesus said that this was the heartbeat of prayer. God wants you to wear Him out with what you want Him to do for you.
lyrics
WEAR YOU OUT
I know it’s late and you’ve been asleep
But I refuse to leave until you come outside
I’ve got me a problem I cannot solve
I didn’t want to come at all, but I just had to try
You’re my first and last resort
What if I wear you out with my constant calls
Will you keep hanging up on me?
I might just wear you down, Ooh and after all
You could give me everything that I need
Tell me how long will I have to wait
I’m standing at your gate and yes, I see the sign
But I won’t leave, I’m not gonna turn around
Even if I’ve gotta knock and pound on that door ten thousand times
You’re my first and last resort
(CHORUS)
I know you’ve got what I need
So come on down here and unbolt that door
If you don’t, I guarantee
That twelve more hours of this is what you’ve got in store
(CHORUS)
