This song was written as a companion to a sermon by Tom Job on Psalm 131. It's about how there's no knowing why God orders or allows the stuff He does. We just need to be like little kids sitting on His lap... we're weened from screaming for the milk all the time, but also staying a little baby, just trusting Him.
lyrics
BABY ON YOUR KNEE
Everyone just seems to get bent outta shape
Whenever any hard times come to call
They’re pulling hairs out or making ‘em turn gray
Worrying and wondering about it all
But You do what You want, when You want, how You want
And maybe by and by we’ll understand
There won’t come a day where I know everything
So I’m gonna stay a baby on your knee
And I don’t need to know why
So I don’t want to grow past
Being a baby on your knee
There are folks who think they’ve got You figured out
And they know just why You’ve done the things You did
But They don’t know just what they’re talking about
They’re just scared You’ll do the same to them
Oh the pain of this world is so mysterious and deep
but You have felt it in Your feet and hands
(CHORUS)
But You do what You want, when You want, how You want
And maybe by and by we’ll understand
And the pain of this world is so mysterious and deep
but You have felt it in Your feet and hands
(CHORUS)
